A private reserve to conserve the biodiversity of the Atlantic Forest

Nascentes do Iguaçu Ornithological Observatory protects 458 bird species and is close to other Protected Areas in the Atlantic Forest Great Reserve

The Nascentes do Iguaçu Ornithological Observatory is a private property, covering approximately 13 hectares. Of this amount, 11.7 hectares were transformed into a Private Natural Heritage Reserve (RPPN) in 2022, pursuant to Ordinance 222 of July 8, 2022, published by the Water and Land Institute. The transformation into a RPPN included it in the National System of Conservation Units (SNUC)—officially protected areas in Brazil—and grants the Ornithological Observatory perpetual preservation status to the ecosystems protected there.

The history of the Nascentes do Iguaçu Ornithological Observatory (RPPN) is presented through its website, which contains information on its history, location, structure, and birdlife, as well as its ecosystems and ecological processes.

The website’s sections feature data, photographs, videos, technical studies, maps, documents, and the latest news.

The menu at the top of each page provides links to access content. The menu can also be used as a “site map.”

To facilitate navigation, there is a “Next Page” button at the bottom of each page. For those accessing the website on mobile devices (smartphones and tablets), the content adapts to the screen format, maintaining the integrity of the information.
